William Albert “Bill” Straub was born on January 3rd, 1956 to his loving parents Collins Straub and Dorothy Heitmann. Those fortunate to have known him will remember his warmth, optimism, and forgiving spirit.
As a youth, Bill was a Boy Scout and was an altar boy at his local parish church, where he developed a passion for music. He carried on his passion for music where he played the trumpet in his high school’s marching band, and as a father, he shared the joy of music with his two sons, teaching them to play piano.
Bill was an avid sportsman, who played basketball and football in his college years. In sport as he was in life, he was always magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat. Through his love for sports, he developed lasting bonds with friends from his college days playing football and basketball and from his later years when he became an avid skier and scuba diver.
Bill married his college sweetheart, Ann, on October 10th, 1981. They both shared a love of travel, sports, and adventure, and their pioneering spirit led them to start a business together, which flourished alongside their marriage.
Bill died peacefully on the morning of December 17th, 2020, in the comfort of home and surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife Ann, and his two sons Justin and Eric. Bill’s legacy and optimistic spirit will endure in his friends and family.
