Grandpa’s Obituary
W. Clark Hersey, Jr. went home to be with His Lord on July 25, 2024. He lived in Griffin, GA in the summer and Hobe Sound, FL in the winter. He graduated from Savannah High School and earned his B. S. degree from LSU with a major in International Economics, where he was a member of Lamdba Chi Alpha social fraternity and Pi Tau Pi honorary fraternity. Upon graduation he went to Korea with the USAF as a 2nd Lt. He served in Korea and Japan and retired from the USAF Reserves as a Major. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., National Furniture and Mfg. Corp. and Lerner Shops in Atlanta, GA. He went into the Dairy Queen-Brazier business in Griffin and Macon, GA. He moved to W. Palm Beach in 1967 and operated a snack shop on Northwood Rd. for one year and then became an auditor for Equifax Commercial Specialists, and then retired.
He was, for many years, a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church and joined Christ Fellowship, Palm Beach Gardens where he was active in both church’s activities. He attended Asbury UMC while in Otto, NC and counted the members as some of his special friends. Clark loved people and enjoyed his fellowship with them.
Those left behind are: his sons Carey, Clark III, daughter Helaina, grandsons Eric L. Hersey, Nick W. Hersey (Leslie), great grandsons Caleb N. Hersey, Jacob E. Hersey, and Jonathan D. Hersey and great-granddaughters Autumn G. Hersey, Celestial A. Hersey, and Isabella H. Hersey, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Clark was a Gideon and requests that all acknowledgements be made to Gideons International so that Bibles may be purchased for spreading God’s Word. His funeral with be held Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Tillman Funeral home at 2:00pm. Visitation from 1:00pm – 2:00pm. Rev. Doctor Douglas McClain of First United Methodist Church of Hobe Sound will officiate.
Burial with Military Honors will follow at Lake Worth Memory Gardens.
