Tonia Lin Hubert passed away February 9th, 2025 at the age of 61 after a long, hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
Tonia was born on October 5th, 1963 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Having divorced her husband when Tonia was 3 yrs.old, her mother, Virginia, moved back to her family in New York City. Her mother remarried and Tonia and her brother Michael continued to live with their mother and her husband Ralph Sparano, who formally became their father.
Tonia met her first husband René Huiban while working at Neri’s bakery in Port Chester, NY in 1993. Soon after Tonia gave birth to their son, Christopher, Tonia and René moved with her parents to Stamford, Connecticut. She lived there for 18 years and in that time there isn’t much she didn’t do. Tonia used to joke that between herself, her Mom, and her son that we knew everyone in Stamford, and with how many people Tonia knew and cared for, it is probably true.
Tonia and Rene divorced in 2009 and Tonia met her second husband, Jack, in 2012. They were married in August 2015, and lived in Plainville, CT before moving to Delray Beach, Florida in 2019.
Tonia immediately began to build community and get involved. She became the treasurer of the condo association and forged friendships that will have an impact long after Tonia has departed. Tonia loved to go on rides up and down the shoreline and down Atlantic Ave.
Tonia also loved to travel. Taking trips around Florida and around the USA in California, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York to name a few. Tonia’s last trip was to NYC to see the tree in Rockefeller center and to see her “kids” (Christopher and many of his close friends). Tonia always wanted to travel in Italy, but passed before she could go. If you are ever in Italy please light a candle in her honor.
Tonia wore many hats throughout her life, but more than anything Tonia was a mom, a wife, a cousin, an aunt, a friend, an ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on, someone who would care for you, someone who would love you for nothing in return, and so many more roles in someone’s life.
Anyone that was lucky enough to meet Tonia understands that how she made you feel is hard to put into words. Tonia met everyone with curiosity and unconditional love. A common occurrence for Tonia was for a stranger to sit down to get their taxes done and leave with Tonia’s phone number and calling her mom. Throughout her life Tonia collected “kids” in this way, and she cared and asked about them all the time, all the way until the end. Some of Tonia’s last words were asking how they were and if they had eaten yet today.
Professionally Tonia was a Tax preparer and Enrolled agent for 30 years. Tonia also worked at Neri’s Bakery for 15+ years. More than that, Tonia did whatever she needed to provide for her family. She taught religious education, worked with Stamford youth football, did the books for multiple businesses, and many more things to provide for her son, Christopher.
She is predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Virginia, her Aunt Anita, and her Aunt Diana
She is survived by her husband Jack, her son Christopher, her step son Jack and his wife Victoria, her brother Michael and his wife Erin, her Uncle Joseph, Aunts Paula and Roe, cousins Robert and Tina, Claudia and Dom, Mark and Mary. And many others who love her.
