Stephanie M. O’Neill
June 5th, 1944 – December 31, 2020
Stephanie M. Romano was born to Rosaria and Paul Romano in Brooklyn, New York on June 5th, 1944. Stephanie was an identical twin to her sister Pamela. Stephanie grew up in Glendale, New York and attended St. Pancras Elementary School and the Valhalla Elementary and Middle School. In High School, Stephanie attended the Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel. Stephanie excelled in academics and was Vice President of the Spanish Club. Stephanie also enjoyed horse back riding, swimming, and played the piano.
Following High School graduation, Stephanie attended Duquesne University in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in History. While in college, she was also a member of the Alpha Phi Omicron Sorority. After completing her Master’s Degree in History, Stephanie taught at a local Junior College. At this time in her life she met and married Steve O’ Neill. Following the dissolution of her marriage, Stephanie moved to New York and pursued a distinguished career at IBM. Ultimately, she transferred to Florida when she was offered a position there. Subsequently she retired at age fifty five. Stephanie was an active member of her choir and faith community. Stephanie was also a self taught guitarist and published poet and her collection of poems was titled “Bullet Holes at Smithtown Presbyterian Church and Federal House and other Gothic Verse.”
Stephanie has been a loving and doting aunt and godmother to Gabrielle and Justine. Stephanie has been and forever will be a loving sister, aunt, friend and animal lover. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family will received friends from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 10, 2021 with the funeral service at 5:00 pm at Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2170 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach, Florida Stephanie will be laid to rest at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village, New York.
