It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Sidney Paul Catledge on October 20, 2024, at the great age of 88. As a Florida native, Sidney was born in West Palm Beach, FL on February 26, 1936 to Mary Jane Amsler and William James Catledge. Sidney spent his entire life in Palm Beach County and graduated from Lake Worth High School. He met the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Beverly Ann Catledge, before her passing in 2014. For many years, they enjoyed splitting their time between West Palm and their cabin in Murphy, NC.
Sidney went by many names, including “Poppy,” “Uncle Bunny,” or “Sid.” He loved fishing, Honey Brown beer, and his family. He worked as a Lineman with FP&L for 30 years before retiring. After “retirement,” Sidney worked at Ace Hardware in Lantana, FL for another 30 years. Sidney, and his wife, welcomed three daughters: Marianne Beesley, April Jordon, and Cheryl Hill. Sidney leaves behind a great legacy with his three daughters, seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was very involved in each of their lives and his passing will be a great loss.
Although Sidney’s passing will leave a major hole in many lives and hearts, there is no doubt he is overjoyed to be reunited with his beloved, Beverly Ann, in the Kingdom of Heaven. As it is said, this is not good bye; but as Sidney would say “Got Soul!”
Survived by: daughters Marianne Beesley, April Jordon, and Cheryl Hill; sons-in-law Ronald Beesley, William Jordon, and Robert Hill; grandchildren Steven Beesley, Christopher Beesley, Kathleen Beesley, Marcus Beesley, Rachel Newton, Alec Jordon, and Kelly Hill; great-grandchildren Emerson Beesley, Hunter Jordon, Brooks Beesley, Bryce Beesley, Riley Beesley, Penelope Beesley, Kayson Newton, Camilla Beesley, Theodore Beesley, Hayden Beesley, Kyro Newton, and Adelaide Beesley; and sister Suzanne Ranstrom.
