SamueI McDonald was born on December 11, 1944 in Cypress Hall, St Andrew, Jamaica to the late Hamsha and Eugenie McDonald. He transitioned on March 29, 2025 in Atlantis, Florida. As a child, he attended Red Hills all age school after which he attended a trade school for welding in Kingston, Jamaica. While in trade school, he met his future wife Mumzelle. They went on to get married and have four children together. They both gave their lives to the Lord, while living in Jamaica. He was God’s faithful servant until his last breath. Sammy immigrated to the United States in 1978 with two of his children Paul and Carolyn; and was later joined by his wife Mumzelle and their two other children Charles and Kurt in 1982. They resided in Brooklyn, New York until they retired and relocated to Greenacres, Florida in 2009. In Brooklyn, they were members of Calvary Church of God and then became members of Greenacres Church of God of Prophecy in Florida.
While living in Jamaica, he worked as a welder at Alumina Partners of Jamaica, also known as Alpart in Nain. After immigrating to the United States, he traveled, working in many other states before becoming a member of the Steamfitters Local union 638 in New York where he stayed until his retirement. Sammy loved the arts and nature, and had many creative hobbies such as painting, picture framing, mosaic tile art, as well as metal and wood working. He was recognized in the local Jamaica news paper, in the 1970s, for his paintings and mosaic art. He also loved photography and always had a camera bag thrown over his shoulders everywhere he went. He enjoyed gardening, always in his backyard or yours, digging, planting, pruning, and reaping.
Sam, Sammy, uncle Sammy, Dee, Deacon, Elder, Mr. Mac are some of the names he’s been called, but the most precious to him was daddy and grandpa. He was always the proudest father of his children, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was very kind and very giving of himself in every way. He always had an encouraging word for everyone he knew. He was an optimist and always ahead of the curve.
Samuel is survived by his wife Mumzelle; children Paul, Charles, Carolyn, and Kurt; siblings Dudley, Joyce, Margaret, Clarette, and Beatrice; 21 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family.
