Sally A. McKean

September 7, 1931 — February 18, 2022

Sally Ann Holcomb was born at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio to Helen Donner Holcomb and William Chester Holcomb on Sept 7, 1931. She was an only child. Sadly her father died when she was 10. She was lovingly raised by her mother and step-father John Harter, along with her grandparents and step-grandparents.

She attended Mentor High School in Mentor, Ohio and went on to attend Kent State University and Lake Erie College. Sally was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. She met her first husband Charles Ament while in college at Kent State. They married in May, 1951 and had 3 children, Debra Ann, Charles Eugene and Jennifer Lynn. The family moved from Mentor, Ohio to Rye, NY in 1966. Sally became an active volunteer in the Rye schools, starting fund raising for the arts with an organization called Rye Believes in Music. She was also active in the United Hospital Twig organization, a former President of the 26th Twig fund raising for the local hospital. She was also a member of Rye Presbyterian Church.

Sally ventured into the travel and leisure industry in the 1980s working for Ask Mr. Foster, Thomas Cooke, and other agencies before eventually moving to a management position with the Gulf & Western subsidiary, Miss Universe Pageants Inc. In 1989 Sally married Bob McKean. They spent their retirement happily traveling the world and sharing time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They moved to Florida full time in 1998 where they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Sadly, Robert predeceased Sally in 2014.

Private burial will take place at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth.

Memorial gifts may be sent to: Alzheimer's Association Alz.org and the American Heart Association heart.org/
