It is with heavy hearts to announce that Richard “Dick” Borgert, 68, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away February 24, 2023. He was born in Eugene, Oregon to Ned and Mona Borgert in May of 1954.
He grew up between Eugene, Oregon and Southern Florida with his brother and sisters.
Once of age, he joined the United States Marine Corps eventually stationed in Camp Lejeune where he met his wife, Deborah. As an automotive mechanic, Dick worked in Fort Lauderdale and Dania and eventually settled in Palm Springs – Lake Worth, Florida with his family. For many years, he could be found working at the old Jac & Mur Amoco on S Congress in Palm Springs, Florida.
His many interests centered around cars and trucks. He enjoyed having a nice ride, keeping his transportation gleaming and in top performance. He maintained the same standard in his later interests with slot cars, go carts, and remote race cars. He enjoyed spending hours building Lego kits with his grandson, Jaxsen, which included characters who came to life under their scenarios of racing.
He had very strong values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy. Dick had incredible patience, and always made time to help others.
He is survived and missed by his loving wife Deborah (nee Clark) of 45 years; his daughter Melanie Borgert of Greenacres, FL; his grandson Jaxsen Smith; his brother Steven Borgert; his sisters Linda Borgert, Teresa Dillon and Kathleen Kerr, his brother and sister in laws Pamela Snodgrass (Anthony), James Clark (Ronald), Steven Clark (Francis), Timothy Clark (Missy), Danny Clark (Amanda); and many beloved nephews and nieces, aunts and uncles.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ned Edward Borgert (D) and Mona Lavonne Owens (Foster) (D).
We are receiving family and friends at the memorial gathering which will be held at Tillman Funeral Home, 2170 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach 33415 on March 17th, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. Those attending may proceed to the gravesite following the memorial service.
