Rev. Father Michael Joseph Vecchio

Rev. Father Michael Joseph Vecchio went home to God on October 2, 2018, just 16 days before his 93rd birthday. Born in 1925 in a small coal mining patch in Pennsylvania. Father Michael was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters. Residing in Pennsylvania and ordained in 1950, Father first served as pastor at Madonna of Jerusalem (1950-1958), Mother of Good Counsel (1958-1964), Regina Coeli (1964-1969), and again at Madonna of Jerusalem (1969-1996) until retirement. Also, Chaplain at the VA Hospital for many years. Father retired to Florida and helped at many churches, the last of which was St. Rita in Wellington. Mass of Christian Burial is to be celebrated by Bishop David A. Zubik in Sharpsburg, PA on October 9. A Mass in his honor will be held at St. Rita Church in Wellington on October 18, at 9:00 AM, Father's 93rd Birthday.
