Mary Ayers of Atlantis, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 13, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Burlington, VT on June 28, 1940, the daughter of Leo Walter and Annette McGreevy. She was born, raised and spent most of her life in Burlington where she always considered home. She met and shortly thereafter married her high school sweetheart, Russell Ayers on September 02, 1961.
Mary was a devoted and loving mother of six children and a proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, as well as one great grandchild. She dedicated her life to the care of others, as her door was always open not only to family, but to friends and neighbors as well. Throughout her life, Mary served as a shimmering beacon of inspiration and warmth for many, illuminating the way forward when the path seemed otherwise uncertain or unclear. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her loving family at large holiday and weekend gatherings that she would host and cherish. Her fire and zest for life continues to burn on through her family, and the many people that she touched.
She was predeceased by her parents Leo Walter and Annette McGreevy; brothers Leo Paul McGreevy and John McGreevy. She is survived by her husband, Russell Ayers; her siblings Neil McGreevy (Betty), Gerald McGreevy (Sally); her children, Russell Ayers (Gina), Eric Ayers (Susan), Meredith Ayers Sheehan (Bob), Scott Ayers, Heather Ayers Shell (Bob), Jason Ayers and her nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
