Martha Carden Shepherd, age 86, a long-time resident of West Palm Beach, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 17, 2022. She was born at Good Samaritan Hospital to John A. and Elna (Haslehurst) Carden and attended Conniston Junior High School and Belle Glade High School. She was a home maker and certified dental assistant, and worked many years in dental care in West Palm Beach. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Alexander Brett Shepherd, a sister, Nancy Carden Wheeler, and a grandson, Jacob Michael Strebler. She is survived by her three children, Lisa Walden Strebler (Mike) of Hudson, OH, James Kevin Walden (Ellen) of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and Laura Walden Foss(Chuck) of Savannah, GA. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Sarah Strebler Luptak (Jeff) of Streetsboro, OH, Jessica Walden Arruda (Adam) of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Steven Michael Walden (Fiancée, Amy Robinson) of Tallahassee, FL, Rachel Lauren Foss of Savannah, GA, and Lt. Samuel David Strebler, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Three great- grandchildren survive her as well, Tyler Wink, Kaylee and Dane Arruda all of Royal Palm Beach, FL. Surviving siblings include John Carden of Wellsboro, PA, Christina Kurz of Clermont, FL, Deane Carden of Cartersville, GA as well as her nieces and nephews. Martha was a kind and loving person who never met a stranger, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Arrangements by Tillman Funeral Home, internment South Florida National Cemetery, private memorial service to follow at a later date.
