Marie Antoinette Lazeau, known to most as Nancy but to those of us closest to her as Mom and Gaga, was born on October 19th, 1931 in Iron River, Michigan. She was one of 11 children, a middle child. Nancy and her siblings were raised on a farm where they climbed and hung from apple trees, all their clothes were made from potato sacks, and they worked hard out in the fields for everything they ate.

When Nancy was 18 she packed up and moved to Washington D.C. where she got a job at a Newspaper and would send money back to her mother and younger sisters. While vacationing in Key West she met her husband to be, Paul M. Lazeau. He was in the Navy and asked her out dancing. He fell head over heels instantly and eventually convinced her to marry him.

They settled in Florida after getting married and adopted 4 babies, all six months apart, two girls and two boys. Not many would take on something like that, but Nancy wasn't just anyone — she was extraordinarily tough, matter-of-fact, and fearless. Nancy dabbled in many different jobs throughout the years; a caretaker of the elderly, a real estate agent, a housekeeper. She and her husband owned a dive business for 12 years where they taught and helped many to become certified scuba divers. They also owned a commercial real estate business where they sold mobile home parks until they finally retired in their later years.

Nancy and Paul loved to travel and went on many trips including destinations in Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, etc. Throughout their lives together they had many dogs that were important members of the family and filled their days with much joy.

The deepest impact that Nancy made in her life, however, was the way she fiercely loved, supported, guided, and helped her children and grandchildren throughout her entire life. Coming from so little, she always wanted to make sure her family was taken care of, and could always be called upon in a time of need. She would be there in any way she could in an instant.

Nancy passed away on April 28th, 2024 at the age of 92, to be reunited with her husband and Jesus in Heaven. She will be forever remembered and missed by those she leaves behind including: her 2 sisters: Betty and Lilly; her 4 children: Renee, Michelle, Paul, and Jon; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

This isn't goodbye. We will see you again!

Private cremation services are in the care of Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2170 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, Florida.
