Marian B. West

Marian B. West passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Community Hospice in St. Augustine, FL.  She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 17, 1926.  On February 10, 1945 she married James L. West in Long Beach, California.  For much of her adult life, she lived in West Palm Beach, FL where she and her late husband, Jim, raised their three children, Kathy, Larry and Phyllis.    

For many years, she worked as a homemaker as well as the bookkeeper for her husband’s business.  She volunteered with the Women’s Auxiliary of the West Palm Beach Fire Department and Memorial Presbyterian Church of West Palm Beach, FL.  After James passed away in 1973, Marian began working for the city of West Palm Beach.  When she retired in 1988, she was the pension coordinator for the city of West Palm Beach.  Later, she came out of retirement to work for the Police Benevolent Association.

Marian was an active volunteer at Trinity United Methodist Church of Palm Beach Gardens.  Then in 1997, she moved to Crescent City, FL to be closer to her family.  Marian belonged to the Crescent City Woman’s Club and volunteered for SHINE and Senior Friends.  She attended Howe Memorial United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church in Crescent City, Fl. 

Marian was preceded in death by her loving husband James L. West, parents Earle and Irma Bixby, her brother Walt and his wife Alice, her brother Dick, and granddaughter Bonnie Stoneman. 

She will be greatly missed by her three children, Laura “Kathy” West of Gainesville, FL, Larry West and his wife, Mary Jeanne “M.J.” of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Phyllis Stoneman and her husband, Mark of Crescent City, FL; Grandchildren:  J. Christopher Davis, Wendy Davis, Trish Mader, Jayme (Steve) Smith, and Kayla Stoneman; Great Grandchildren:  Justin Davis, Brennan Davis, Chassidy Davis, Jacob Davis, Brayden Merrill, Kelcee Mader, Austin (Taylor) Smith, Alli Smith, and Abbigayl Smith; and three great, great grandchildren.

A service of celebration and thanksgiving for the life and faith of Marian B. West will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 4601 S. Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, Florida officiated by the Reverend W. Jack Noble.  Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in West Palm Beach.  Arrangements are under the direction of Tillman Funeral Home, 2170 South Military Trail in West Palm Beach, FL.
