Luz Correa Veldhuizen, 84, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away at 11:50pm on August 13th under the loving care of her children and sisters.
She was born on her family farm, to the late Valeriano and Ana Mejia Correa, on December 25, 1936, in Yarumal, Colombia.
She is survived her daughter, Paula M. Beauchesne, wife of Donald Beauchesne, her son Jorge E. Taborga and his partner Courtney LoCastro, as well as her grandchildren Erin Michelle and Justin Daniel Beauchesne, Noah Parfort and Lily Ana Taborga.
As the oldest of 9, Luz is also survived by her 8 younger siblings, Gabriel, Eduardo, Gustavo, Teresa, Juan Guillermo, Ana Piedad, Luis Fernando, Juan Dario and all of their families.
Luz's greatest accomplishment was her friendship and her sense of adventure. She was an amazing person, who never met a stranger she didn't befriend and continuously kept in touch, resulting in life long friendships.
Her adventures took her from Colombia to New York where she met and married her first husband and father of her children Luis Taborga. They later moved to Pennsylvania and then to Florida.
She met and married her second husband, the late, Randall Veldhuizen in 1988, with whom she traveled across Europe and Central America and helped captain their sailboat up the East coast of the US. She's traveled to multiple countries and always immersed herself in their culture, making friends along the way.
Luz loved to gather, laugh and dance with family and friends.
