Judith Ellen Carroll Neumann

August 17, 1937 — November 15, 2024

West Palm Beach, Florida

Judith Ellen Carroll Neumann passed away quietly in her hometown of West Palm Beach on November 15, 2024. This lover of flowers and 60's glass was born on August 17, 1937, in Palm Beach County to Marguerite and Arthur Carroll. After graduating from Palm Beach High in 1956, she thought it adventurous to marry Erwin Neumann --a man in an Air Force uniform and also a citizen of Mayen, Germany. The newlywed bride had a shock with their initial assignment to Anchorage, Alaska, where she learned for the first time how to keep herself warm rather than cool. She also quickly realized that you really couldn’t walk on top of snow!

In addition to Alaska, Judy and Erwin had tours in Florida, Colorado, and different locations in Germany before they retired to West Palm Beach in 1976. She worked as the base librarian in West Berlin, Germany, then continued in the same field with her best friend Joyce Kruger at Palm Beach Community College until she retired. Judy’s sassy spirit of fun, curiosity and strong sense of independence and civility will live on in our hearts.

She is survived by her brother Thomas Carroll, his wife Karen and their family; her cousins Paul, Donald and Eleanor, Kenneth and Tracy, and Harlan amd Nancy Carroll; nieces and a nephew; her daughter, Susan Carroll Neumann and her partner Kismet Oettinger; her son, Eric Neumann and his wife, Nancy; and daughter-in-law Jennifer Neumann. She is the grandmother of Emily Neumann Schaefer and her husband Michael, Carlie Neumann. Sally Neumann, Lara Oettinger and great-grandson Jack Wheeler.

Judy was predeceased by her husband, Erwin Dieter Neumann, and son, Jeffrey Erwin Neumann, as well as her brother, David Irwin Carroll. A Celebration of Life is being planned for Judy during the holidays, her favorite time of the year. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
