Judith Ann Corrin

December 29, 1945 — April 10, 2025

Wellington, Florida

Judith Ann Corrin, 79, of Wellington, Florida, died on April 10, 2025. She was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia in 1945 to Edward Wayne Corrin and Maxine Law Corrin. She had a lifelong appreciation of nature that was nurtured by water skiing on Deep Creek Lake, Maryland during early family vacations. After matriculating from Mount Vernon Seminary in Washington, D.C.in 1963, she attended Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia. She then moved briefly to New York City and attended the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School before marrying Lieutenant Commander (SEAL) Eric B. Anderson, United States Navy (Retired). Her travels as a Navy wife included several years in Brindisi and Gaeta, Italy before settling in Virginia Beach, VA with her daughters.

Judy found great joy in her bridge club activities as well as golfing near home and in tournaments around the state with her friends. One of her hobbies included a family genealogy project in which she documented the lives of her forebears back to their origin on the Isle of Man and England through their journey to Ohio and West Virginia. After her retirement from bookkeeping for a local construction company, she dedicated many volunteer hours to the Unitarian Church of Norfolk (now the Coastal Virginia Unitarian Universalists) in the office and as part of the Social Justice Committee with the Norfolk Emergency Shelter Team (NEST). Judy also participated in local political and humanitarian causes such as assisting underrepresented minorities to register to vote and working with an organization that provides interview outfits and mentorship to women entering the professional workforce.

She provided years of patient support for the varying needs of her children including long car trips to many horse shows and horseback riding camps for her eldest and countless trips to the public library with her youngest. In her later years she moved to south Florida to be closer to her grandchildren. There she played a major role in their upbringing and education, which somewhat to their chagrin included an emphasis on proper decorum and table manners. She was an avid reader of news, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. She also enjoyed outdoor walks, puzzles, word play, and clever jokes.

Judy was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Wayne Corrin, Jr. She is survived by her children, Britta K. Anderson (husband Riaan Janse van Rensburg) also of Wellington, and Laura C. Anderson (partner Elissa J. Chesler) of Bar Harbor, Maine, as well as two grandchildren, Nico Janse van Rensburg and Kasen Janse van Rensburg and a niece and nephew, Kathleen Hope Gernon (née Corrin) and Edward Wayne Corrin III.

No public memorial is planned. Donations may be made to the Coastal Virginia Unitarian Universalists in Virginia Beach, VA.
