It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Jeanne Welsh Maguire, who died on April 19, 2024, in Boynton Beach, Florida at the age of 68. She had been fighting a long and courageous battle with COPD.
Jeanne (aka Beana) was born and raised in Takoma Park, Maryland. She settled in Boynton Beach, Florida at 59, where she built a loving and nurturing connection with family-like friends and neighbors. Jeanne was a born artist. From a young age, Beana crafted everything from a life-sized paper maché cow to 5-inch wooden platform shoes. As an adult, she channeled her creativity into a successful career as a kitchen and bath designer, where her style and functional designs showcased brightly.Jeanne loved her family/friend connections. From Texas to D.C., to Boston, and across the pond to Ireland - she was nourished with friends far and near. And above all, Jeanne was an amazing sister. The pride of being a member of our father’s ‘petticoat government’ was evident when she would rattle off all the sisters J names to kind and inquisitive strangers she would come across during our fun sister-trips.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Mark “Hugger” Maguire. Jeanne is survived by her daughter Molly Maguire, and her four sisters, Joyce (Jerome) Gross, Janice (Tim) Schofield, Jody Welsh, and, Jessica (Danilo Vargas) Welsh. She leaves behind two nieces, six nephews and two great nephews. Jeanne’s last and dearest survivor was her loyal and loving support dog, Mamie Grace (Gracie).
Jeanne leaves behind a legacy of creativity, love, and connection that will be deeply missed by all who know her. We take comfort in knowing that she is now rejoined with our beautiful mom, whom she sorely missed and spoke of often.
Services for Jeanne will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 805 Wayne Ave, Silver Spring, MD on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 10 am.
