July 20, 1952 – February 13, 2025
Dr. Sylvia Andreina Sisiruca Rondon, M.D., age 72, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away with her loved ones by her side on Thursday, February 13, 2025 after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, David Rondon, her sons David (Iara) and Alex (Lili), her three grandchildren (Victoria Elizabeth, Felipe Gabriel, and Sophia Rose) along with her siblings (Anna Sisiruca de Rondon, Carlos Sisiruca, Claudio Sisiruca), nieces, nephews, and the large, extended Sisiruca and Rondon families in Florida, Venezuela, Italy, New England, and around the world.
Sylvia was born in Caracas, Venezuela on July 20, 1952 to Dr. Carlos Sisiruca Quintero† and Andreina Rigo de Sisiruca†. There, she grew up as the eldest of four siblings, Anna (Pedro Rondon†), Carlos (Elizabeth Martin) and Claudio (Kim Kelshall). She attended Colegio Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe primary school followed by medical school at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, where she graduated in 1978. In medical school, she made many friends, the greatest being her husband, Dr. David Stratton Rondon. Soon after graduating, they married on September 30, 1978, with a Catholic religious ceremony held on October 7, 1978. They lived in El Tigre, a small inland town in Venezuela during their first year of marriage where she completed a medical rural year.
In 1979, with an opportunity to study a Masters in Public Health at Columbia University, Sylvia and David moved to New York City, where they would live until 1984. Sylvia completed her Masters and had her first son, David Alberto, on August 28, 1980. In 1984, Sylvia and David moved to the Boston area, where they would live in Newton, Massachusetts where Sylvia completed a medical internship at Carney Hospital.
In February 1988, Sylvia and David moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where one year later, on February 16, 1989, Sylvia had her second son, Alexander Jose. During this time, Sylvia and her family settled in Palm Beach Gardens/North Palm Beach, where Sylvia forged close, lifelong friendships.
A devout Roman Catholic, Sylvia maintained the value of religion and faith in God throughout her life. She was a very active person, both socially and athletically. Sylvia was an avid tennis player & fan, a generous host, and above all devoted to her family. She enjoyed time spent around the kitchen preparing a meal, sharing a bottle of wine with friends all while being impeccably dressed.
She will always be remembered by family and friends for the countless celebrations and holidays spent in her home. A loving and doting grandmother, Sylvia truly enjoyed having her grandchildren stay over her home for weekends, whether taking them to the beach to see the sea turtles at the Loggerhead Nature Center in Jupiter and going to the Nutcracker at the Kravis Center during Christmas.
She was a great unifier for her extended family preserving strong ties in Venezuela, Italy, and New England. Her love and passion for her family was palpable as was her ever-present source of love, support, and guidance. Her love permeated through. She will be greatly missed.
