Our beloved David Anthony Rayfield, age 55, passed away Monday, April 29th, 2024 after complications from pneumonia related to his ongoing battle with cancer. David was born December 26th, 1968 in Hickory, North Carolina to Paul and Carmela Rayfield. The Rayfield family moved to Florida in 1971 and David would graduate from Coconut Creek High School in 1986. In 1991, David enlisted into the United States Navy and was trained as an Avionics Technician. He also studied Political Science at the University of Maryland during his time serving. David was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1995 and would return to his family home in Boynton Beach, Florida where he would continue working as an Avionics Technician in the private sector.
In 2001, David met his wife and lifelong companion, Rebecca, through mutual friends. The happy couple was blessed with the birth of their son, Anthony David Rayfield, on February 28th, 2005. David and Rebecca were married on December 17th, 2009 and happily raised their family in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. At various times in his teenage and adult years, David owned a lawn and landscaping business. In 2015, he would start this business back up again and maintain its success until his passing, with his son taking over and maintaining when his battle with cancer began.
David was known for his larger-than-life personality, bringing enthusiasm and enjoyment to any event or gathering. He had a perpetual love for his family and valued the importance of friendship, easily creating everlasting bonds with those around him. David was a believer in Christ and regularly spoke about the word of God. David is survived by his wife, Rebecca; son, Anthony Rayfield; father and mother, Paul and Carmela Rayfield; and brother Marc (Sebrena) Rayfield; as well as many other loving family members within the United States and Italy and friends that were very dear to him.
Service will be held at Tillman Funeral Home on Saturday, May 18th, 2024. Gathering will be from 9-11am, and Memorial Mass with Military Honors starting at 11am. Donations in David’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
