Celebrating the life of David M. Patterson

David was a bright star in all of our lives. Patty, as many of his friends called him, was kind, and generous. Was fun to be with. A storyteller. Honest. Smart. Friendships were deep. And real. "He had so much life in him". "His positive energy was infectious". "One of the most generous people I have known". "Made friends with anybody, and said hi to everybody" (Per Maddie). "Could make anyone feel like they were the most important and interesting person in the world"

David was ambitious. And, strong willed. (Inherited from his grandmother Madge) No one dreamed bigger, or worked harder to achieve his goals.

The love of his life was his 9 year old daughter, Maddie Patterson. He was so proud of her. "So smart." Loved spending time with her. Looking for special birds on Daniel Island. And petting "Goldies"

He was born with the golfing gene, inherited from his grandmother, Edna. He began accumulating a gazillion trophies, beginning at the age of 8, in Indiana. He absolutely loved the game. Played hundreds of golf courses, literally. Loved to compete. "A self-proclaimed 'best putter on the planet.'"

After graduating for Duke University with a Bachelor's Degree in 1991, and a brief stint as a professional golfer, he then began his career in stocks and bonds trading.

David worked on the sales side of "fixed income" securities on Wall Street for a good portion of his career. He also loved to pursue attractive investments. His warm and confident personality, sometimes combined with a "round of golf" helped him become quite successful.

He is survived by

---His parents, Diane and Bill Patterson, his sister Susan Clemens, his brother-in-law Pat Clemens, and his nephew, Will Clemens

---His daughter Maddie Patterson. And Brandi Lewis, her mother and co-parent

---His uncle, Clay Larson, and cousins Derek, Jill, and Jamie

---His aunt, Sharon Larson

A small private celebration of life will be held at a later date

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The National Audubon Society

May David rest in peace.
