David "Chito" Avila, Jr.

March 6, 1942 — July 4, 2020

David “Chito” Avila, Jr., age 78, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020.  David was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 6, 1942.  David is survived by his wife, Mariana (Ani) Poblano Avila of 59 years, his daughters, Delores (Lolie) A. Mass and Irene A. Cardona (Antonio, Sr.), and his grandchildren, David (DJ) Joseph Mass (Candie), Antonio (AC) Cardona, Jr., Roberto V. Cardona (Gabriella) and the family pets, Callie and Rose.  David is also survived by his four sisters, Adela Caudillo (Augustin); Maria Flores (Fernando); Deanna Avila and Gloria Morales (Carlos); his mother-in-law Luciana R. Poblano; sister-in-law’s; brother-in-law’s; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

David is predeceased by his parents, David Avila, Sr. and Santos Morales Avila; his brothers; Israel Garcia; Domingo Avila, Sr., Oscar Avila, Mariano (Pancho) Avila and his uncle Ramon Avila.

David was a long-time tractor trailer driver for the US Post Office and retired about 1 year ago.  David was the kindest and most loving person.  He would do anything he could for anyone.  If you knew him, you were family.  David adored his wife, daughters and grandchildren.  He was always there to give a helping hand.  He loved to take all of the family to eat breakfast and dinner and anyone else that was with us.  David was a huge Miami Dolphins Fan.  He always had his Miami Jacket and hat with him.

David and his wife Mariana are both active members at Christ Fellowship Church in Boynton Beach.  David surrendered his life to Christ on his birthday a few years ago and has been a follower of Christ each day since.

Evening Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 6 to 9pm.   For family and friends that are unable to attend, we’ll have a Webcast available on Thursday evening.  Link to be provided.

Please note that only 10 persons are allowed inside each chapel and hallway at one time.  Everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing.  All others will have to wait outside.  The funeral home staff will be assisting in making sure that we all have time to pay our last respects to such a wonderful and loving man.  If you are not comfortable coming to the funeral home due to the current pandemic, please know that we understand. 

A private viewing for immediate family only will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 10-11am.  Please meet us at the cemetery for David’s Graveside Service at 12 Noon.

Graveside service will be held at 12 Noon at the Boynton Beach Memorial Park Cemetery off of Woolbright Rd and Seacrest Blvd.  Pastor Antonio Valido of Christ Fellowship Church Boynton Beach will be officiating.
