Constance Mildred Kerns Hoyt

Constance Mildred Kerns Hoyt was born January 16, 1923, in Walla Walla Washington and passed on January 11, 2025, in Viera, Florida. When she was five years old the family moved to New Jersey. She did her grade school days in Dover, New Jersey, and her high school days in North Plainfield New Jersey. After graduation, she went to Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois. Her freshman year she fell in love with a fellow student John Henry Hoyt, and they became engaged. World War II began, and John was drafted and shipped overseas to war. Connie continued through Greenville College, graduating in 1945. The following year she taught the one room country school in Michigan which John had attended and his father before him. During that school year, John returned home from the war, and they were married; they had 66 years of a happy marriage serving God, some years in pastor roles, some years as Air Force Chaplain, and five years working at a mission school in Paraguay. 

Constance leaves behind their five children; John Henry Hoyt Jr. of Greenacres, FL; Rebecca Hope Holland, husband Michael of Spokane WA; Jennie Lee Williams, husband Jerry of Merritt Island, FL; Constance Kay Buterbaugh, husband Brian of Columbus, IN; Charles Walter Hoyt, wife Niki of Rockledge, FL and 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren all of whom were greatly loved. 

Constance will be buried beside her husband John at the South Florida National Cemetery at 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449, phone number: (561) 649-6489. Memorial service will be held February 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at West Palm Beach 1st Church of the Nazarene located at 5601 Forest Hill Blvd, West Palm Beach, Florida 33415.
