Martha F. Prater

Age 91 of Lantana, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2009. Martha was born in Glasgow, Missouri and lived the majority of her life in Missouri before moving to Lantana in 1981. A graduate of Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University), Martha was a high school teacher for 7 years before becoming a full-time homemaker. She was active in both church and family-related activities was a constant source of grace and loving encouragement to her family and all with whom she come in contact. She also baked some great chocolate chip cookies... Martha was married to Methodist pastor and evangelist Dr. Arnold Prater for 61 years, who predeceased her in 2003. She is survived by daughter Judy Widdows (Edwin), son Ken Prater (Diane), sister Katherine Leutzinger of Walpole, Massachusetts and five grandchildren: Joel, Stephen, and Mark Widdows; Stephanie and Jeffrey Prater. A funeral service will be held in the Shepherd's Chapel at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 2341 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach on Sunday, June 14 at 3:00pm with Associate Pastor Jacqueline Leveron officiating.
