Dorothy Ackerman Cassidy, 90, of Cresthaven Villas died peacefully Feb. 14, 2010, in Atlantis. Born in Chicago, Ill., she was the youngest of 10 children. She moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. and married John J. Cassidy. She later moved to Levittown N,Y, where she worked at Hofstra University in the Data Processing department. She moved to Florida in 1982 and lived in North Palm Beach. where she attended St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church. In 1994 she moved to W.P.B. and attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, enjoyed playing scrabble, canasta, crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.She was preceded in death by her parents; nine siblings; husband John J. Cassidy and son Thomas Cassidy. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Cassidy Klepp and husband, Ted, of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Tina and husband, Peter, of West Palm Beach, FL.; 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive guests 2-4 and 7-9 PM Thursday at TILLMAN FUNERAL HOME, 2170 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, where prayers will be said at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 AM Friday, February 19, 2010 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, West Palm Beach, the Rev. Gavin J. Badway celebrant. Interment will take place at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in her name to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 345 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, Fla., 33415.
