Richard Tobin Smith

Mr. Richard T. Smith, age 89, West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2009 following a brief illness. Mr. Smith was born March 12, 1920 in Orlando, Florida to the late Kirby & Mary (Dorgan) Smith. Richard was the owner and operator of a nursery and moved to the West Palm Beach area in 1950. Mr. Smith was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Richard served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korea War. Richard is survived by his wife of 56 years, Loraine (Murray) Smith; daughters, Robin (Sage) Smith of Boynton Beach; Priscilla Smith and Jacqueline Smith both of West Palm Beach; sons, Richard T. Smith Jr. of Royal Palm Beach; Laurence (Nancy) Smith of Gainesville; Timothy (Kelly) Smith of Royal Palm Beach; Sean Smith of Royal Palm Beach and Patrick Smith of West Palm Beach; sister, Rosemary Graver of Phoenix, AZ; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass for Mr. Smith will be celebrated 11:00 am Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Gavin Badway as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery with military honors. Services entrusted to Tillman Funeral Home, 2170 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach.
