Rev. James Lockwood, 78, passed away on December 28, 2009 at his home with many of his large family at his side. Born in Chicago on June 2, 1931, he operated Lockwood Carpet Service in Boca Raton, FL beginning in 1958. In 1964 he was ordained by the Baptist Faith and attended Baptist Bible Inst. in Graceville, FL. Throughout his years he pastored churches in AL, FL, SC, & NY, where he ordained many ministers, founded two Christian Academies and a Children’s Home for wayward boys. Upon his retirement from full time ministry, he worked for the Palm Beach Sheriff’s office for ten years. He remained active at First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach as a Sunday School teacher. He formerly served as a Board member and building Captain at Regal Palms Condominium Association. Rev. Lockwood is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Joy Lockwood and sister, Lorraine Hahn. He was preceded in death by his son, Rev. Bobby Lockwood and is survived by his other children, sons; Jim Jr., Tommy, Michael, Mark and daughters; Judy and Ronnie Lee and also by 47 grand and great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at TILLMAN FUNERAL HOME, 2170 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, where friends will be received after 3:00 PM.
