Mr. Marvin Greenfield, 86, Greenacres, Florida passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010 at his home following a brief illness. He was born May 30, 1924 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Abraham & Pauline (Sass) Greenfield and a retired technician in the medical field. Marvin was a United States Army veteran of World War II serving as a nose gunner on a B-24. His plane was shot down over Austria and he was the only survivor of the crash and then was taken to Germany were he was a POW for 18 months at Stalag 17 and was liberated by General George S. Patton. Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Diane (Tompkins) Greenfield; sons, Jerry; Robert and Randy; brother, Joseph; sister, Anita Foss; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Marvin will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Tillman Funeral Home with Reverend Aidan M. Lacy officiating. Private interment will follow at South Florida National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers the family has ask that donations me made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Marvin. Services are under the care of Tillman Funeral Home, 2170 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach, Florida.
