Walter "Wally" Thomas Alexander, 84, Lake Worth passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at JFK Medical Center following a brief illness. Wally was born December 19, 1926 in Westmont, Illinois to the late Paul & Mary (Kwick) Alexander and moved to the Lake Worth area in 1983 from Glenview, Illinois. He was a proud veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II and a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Wally is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helene (Tabisz) Alexander of Lake Worth; daughters, Linda (John Porter) Garlans of Lake Worth and Janis (Steve) Barney of Cary, Illinois; 3 grandchildren, Julie (Adam) Warriner; Kristin (Scott) Gustafson and Katie Barney; 2 great-grandchildren, Isla Warriner and Ryan Gustafson. A Mass of Christian Burial for Wally will be offered 10:00 AM Saturday, July 2, 2011 at St. Matthew Catholic Church with Father Clem Hammerschmitt as celebrant. Private Inurnment with military honors will take place at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth . In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33417 in memory of Wally.
