Age 90, of West Palm Beach, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 at his residence , Arbor Oaks Assisted Living. Mr. Fionda was born on November 14, 1921 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey to Ferdinando and Celestina Manes Fionda. David married the love of his life, Mary, in 1972 and they lived in New York until their retirement to West Palm Beach in 1980. David graduated from A.B. Davis High School in Mount Vernon, New York and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy as Yeoman Second Class from 1942 to 1946. He received the Victory Medal, the European and African One Star, Good Conduct Medal and American Area Medal. He then went on to work in the banking industry and retired from Chase Manhattan Bank in 1979. David enjoyed traveling with his wife, cooking, entertaining guests at their home, going to the Casino and being the life of the party. His easy laugh and generous spirit will be missed by all who were fortunate to know him. David was a loving husband, uncle, brother, cousin, godfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his brothers, Arthur Fionda, Ernest Fionda, sisters, Pearl Davis, Evelyn Silver, and Irene (Jim) Durbin , godchild Diane (Richard) Abbondante , numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends. The family would like to especially thank the Bermudez Family (Troy, Frank, Frank Jr., Joey and Jennifer), Susan Abbondante, The Leahy and Hampel family, Karen Gibbons and the staff of the Arbor Oaks Assisted Living for their love and support of our precious Dave. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 22, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 345 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach with Rev. Gavin Badway, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church or have a mass offered in Dave’s name.
