Russell "Bruce" Lowers

Russell “Bruce” Lowers, 86, formerly of McDonald, Ohio passed away at his home in West Palm Beach on Monday, October 29th after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Bruce was born in Sandy Lake, PA on September 15, 1926, the son of the late Clara Greenlee Glancy and William Lowers and stepfather Henry Glancy. After growing up in Greenville, PA, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served as a radioman and tail gunner on an Avenger Torpedo Bomber. He married the late Frances “Frankie” Kearney of Mineral Ridge on November 16, 1946. She preceded him in death on September 16, 1986. Together they raised their family in village of McDonald and were supportive of many community and school programs. Bruce was an owner/operator in the freight and steel-hauling industry for over 35 years. He is survived by sisters, Mary Horne of Jamestown, PA and Margie Beil of Bemus Point, NY, his son James Lowers (Gail) of McDonald, his daughters Patricia Gardner (Larry) of Huron, OH, Pamela Saganich (John) of McDonald, and Penny Hatley of Spring, TX, his grandchildren Greg Gardner of Euclid, Brad Gardner of Pflugerville, TX, Todd Gardner of Huron, OH Jim Lowers of Girard, OH, Tonya Lowers of McDonald, Deena D’Amore of Columbus, OH, Callen, Abriana, and Bailee D’Amore of McDonald, Jessica Morgan of Houston, TX, Megan Dugan of Austin, Jeffrey Dugan of Port Arthur, TX and Taylor Hatley of Spring, TX and three great grandchildren. Bruce will be missed dearly by all, especially his loving partner of the past 19 years, Lola Morris. Lola and Bruce enjoyed many mutual interests and sharing time with both their families. Lola provided dedicated care and loving companionship throughout their journey. Family and friends may attend a service at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2 at Tillman Funeral Home at 2170 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL followed by a flag ceremony and burial at the South Florida VA National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, Foundation for the End-of-Life Care.
