Charles Brooks Dunoy, age 77, of Boca Raton, Florida, formerly of Paducah, Ky, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Bethesda Memorial Hospital. A native of Paducah, Brooks was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and Murray State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Health and Physical Education and a Masters degree in Education. At Murray State, he was a four-year member of the Varsity Tennis Team. After college, he served in the United States Marine Corps. Brooks was an avid and accomplished tennis player, and he coached and taught the game until late in his life. He was a lifelong educator, teaching locally at St. Mary Academy and Reidland High School as well as several schools in Florida. Survivors include his wife, Claire Dunoy; daughter, Lynn Toms and husband, Logan of Durham, NC; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ellis Toms of Durham, NC; stepdaughter, Jordan Austin Joseph and husband George; stepson, Steve Austin and wife Meg; and step-grandchildren, Leila and Thomas Joseph and Conley Austin. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne Ellis Dunoy. His parents were Mary Dickie Dunoy and Charles Edward Dunoy of Paducah. The Toms and Dunoy families extend their deep gratitude to Luzmilla Perez and Judy Stone for the wonderful care they provided to Brooks during his last few years. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 8th at Oak Grove Cemetery in Paducah. Rev. Wayne Carter will officiate. There will be no visitation.
