Ruth M. Wells, aged 94, died peacefully on May 28, 2013 following a cardiac arrest. Ruth was born October 21, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of George and Katherine Franznick, and sister of Rita and Janet. Ruth was a long-time devoted parishioner of the Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in West Palm Beach, where she sang in the choir and served as Eucharist Minister. She dedicated her time to helping those in the parish who needed assistance, driving people to church and administering Holy Communion to the home-bound. She performed similar acts of kindness in St. Matthews Parish in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, where her children attended school and she served on many church and school-related boards and committees. In 1942, Ruth married George Alison (Al) Wells, living in various cities during and after World War II, in which Al served. Ruth and Al settled in West Palm Beach almost 40 years ago where they were active members of their community. In addition to raising their four children, Ruth also had a successful practice in Real Estate while living in New York and volunteered in many local community projects. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Christine Masker (and husband, Hiller,) who lives in the Palm Beach area and cared for Ruth during her later years. She is also survived by her son, George Alison Wells (and wife, Evangeline) of Santé Fe, NM, her daughter, Barbara DeYoung (and husband, David DeYoung) of Pittsford, NY and her son, James R Wells, of Galveston Island, TX. Ruth has 7 grandchildren, Katie Trujillo, Dorothy Wells, Elizabeth Wells-Beede, David George DeYoung, Kristin Sippel and Laurelei Wells. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and 6 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 AM Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 345 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, the Rev. Gavin J. Badway celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the church.
