Donald P. Steffens went to be with his heavenly father on August 22, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was born on a farm in Bloomfield Nebraska to Arthur and Rose Steffens, and was one of eleven children. Don moved to Florida in 1940 and later met the love of his life Pauline Hennigan. They were married for 61 years and raised three children in the Greenacres area. As a younger man, Don started out as a police officer with the City of Greenacres, on the night shift. As opportunities for other work became available, he went to work as a glazier, from which he retired. Donald loved to fish for Speck in the Lake Okeechobee area canals and ponds. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Pauline" Steffens of Greenacres, a daughter, Patricia Taylor (Steven) of Loxahatchee, FL, a son Paul Steffens (Lorrie) of Lake Worth, a grandson, Joseph Steffens (Stephanie) of Cypress, TX, granddaughters, Audrah Schuchmann (Jonathon) of Chuluota FL, Kelli Hill (Mark) of Kissimmee, FL, and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Hill and Alannah Schuchmann. He was predeceased by his youngest child Ronda Steffens in 2012. Don was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. A celebration of his life will be held on August 31, 2013 at Florida Gardens Baptist Church, 7800 Lake Worth Road, Lake Worth, FL at 10:00 am. Family will receive visitors beginning at 9:00 am.
