William David Jones Jr. of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away on September 24, 2013 at the age of 86. He was born on February 22, 1927. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Barbara T. Jones, who passed away on September 7, 2013, and by his parents, William D. Jones Sr. and Blanche Wiley Jones. "Bill", as he was know to family and friends, grew up in Albion, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Albion High and joined the Army Air Corps, serving during World War II and with the occupation forces in Japan. After the Army, he put his skills as a radio-electronic specialist to use, working in the radio, and then the electronics and computer industries throughout his career, principally in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Gettysburg College and Johns Hopkins University to further his education. He was an active member of the Baltimore area community, including membership and serving as president of the Optimist Club in Timonium, Maryland, and as a little league baseball coach. He retired with the love of his life Barbara to West Palm Beach, Florida in 1993, where they enjoyed a loving and happy retirement with many friends. Bill continued to serve his community there as a member of the Barkley Community Council. He is survived by his sons, Major General (Ret.) Michael Jones of Apollo Beach, Florida, and Captain (Chaplain) Brian Jones of Dubuque, Iowa; stepdaughters Barbara Cochran of Baltimore, Maryland, and Maureen Chandler of Colombia, Maryland; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loving nieces and nephews.
