Age 85 years, of West Palm Beach, passed away on August 16, 2014. Mr. Westbrook was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina on November 11, 1928. He attended elementary and high school in Rock Hill then earned his BS and MS Degrees at Appalachian State University. Mr. Westbrook was a veteran of World War II serving in Europe with The US Army. He was a member of FEA Post 12 American Legion. Bob was employed by Irdell County Schools in North Carolina before moving to West Palm Beach working with the Palm Beach County Schools until his retirement in 1984. He was a science teacher at Forest Hill High School where he also coached the wrestling and girls' cross country running teams. Bob enjoyed all sports, fishing, photography, landscape painting and visiting his family. He was a member of The United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches. Bob was predeceased by his son, Robert Westbrook, Jr. ; brothers, Ed, Jr. and Charley; sister, Frances. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ida K. Westbrook; daughters, Ann (Rockford) Reiners and Marie Westbrook; grandchildren, Mitchell Reiners and Robyn (Nathaniel) Reisch; brother, James Westbrook and sisters, Anne Cassells and Rachel Panter. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2170 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach with Rev. Kent Crow of The United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until service time on Saturday.
