Mary Jane Weiss, formerly of Garden City, NY and Westhampton, NY passed away suddenly of viral encephalitis on March 10, 2015 in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Mary Jane was born in New York, NY on January 9, 1935. She attended Villa Maria Academy in the Bronx, NY graduating in 1953 and later graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1956 and was a registered nurse at St. Vincent's Hospital in the Village in New York City until 1962. She met the love of her life, Dr. Carl A. Weiss at St. Vincent's Hospital and they were later married on February 11, 1961 in Whitestone, NY. Mary Jane volunteered in two nursing missions in Guatemala and Honduras. She also obtained a degree in interior design from The New York School of Interior Design. She was an avid gardener, interior decorator, loved working on needlepoint and doting on her 8 grandchildren. Mary Jane is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Carl A. Weiss; children, Christina (Joe) Terranova of Melrose, MA, Carl (Anne) Weiss of Fayetteville, NY and Gretchen (Gregg) Dubit of Durango, CO; grandchildren, Heidi Weiss, C. Austin Weiss, Chloe Weiss, Joseph Terranova, Olivia Terranova, Christopher Terranova, Lydia Dubit and Hayden Dubit; sister-in-law, Marilyn LaCorte and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary Jane will also be missed by her beloved Dachshund, Ilsa. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2170 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until service time.
