Mary Ann Amann passed away suddenly at 90 years old early Monday afternoon May 18, 2015 at Renaissance Health and Rehabilitation,West Palm Beach Florida. Mary Ann was born on December 30, 1924 in Dayton Ohio. She attended Julienne High School and met the love of her life Chuck Amann in 1941 and dated steadily before sending him off to war in 1943. Mary Ann joined the convent shortly thereafter and it was Dad's running joke that upon coming home from the war he "stole" Mom from the nunnery. Preceded in death by her parents Oscar Hoertt and Katherine Zitkus., husband Charles Edward Amann, Daughters in Law Lynn (Gayton) Amann, and Cathy (Inks) Amann. Survived by sons Tim (Teresa) Amann, Ted Amann, Joe (Natalie) Amann, grandsons Tony, Corey, Marek and granddaughters Joanna and Melanie and numerous great grandchildren. Mom touched all the lives she encountered and firmly in our memories will be late night raucous Pinochle nights she and Dad shared with Jack and Carol Gorman, with whom she is now reunited with. But most of all our memories will be of the gentle but steel-spined woman who held the family together and gave it its heart. We will miss her terribly but are heartened by the fact that the walk that was abruptly cut short in February 2000 when Dad died, can now continue, into the sunset. We love you Mom. Funeral arrangements to be forthcoming and held at St. Mary Magdalene and interment at Green Lawn Cemetery Columbus, Ohio. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society.
