Salvator E. Uccello

Salvator E. Uccello of Greenacres, FL , died Tuesday morning January 5, 2016. Sal was born in Hartford, CT to parents Cecelia Urgo & Salvatore Uccello. Sal proudly served in the US Navy during WWII and Korea and was medically and honorably discharged after 10 years of service. He was a member of the Hartford DAV Chapter#12, a State Commander & held numerous positions at both State and National levels. Sal was instrumental in establishing the Henry A. Kupchunos-DAV Chapter# 47 in South Windsor, CT.

After 20 years, Sal retired from the Post Office. Shortly after, with his wife Shirley they moved to Greenacres, FL. Although golf & sleep were his passions, he needed more. He joined the West Palm Beach DAV Chapter #42 and then like in CT he volunteered at the West Palm Beach VA Hospital for over 26 years. While in Florida, he served as the State DAV Hospital Service Coordinator for Veteran Transportation Network (VTN), which provides free transportation to VA medical facilities for any injured and/or ill veteran. In addition, he was the National DAV VAVS Representative.

Sal was predeceased by his loving wife Shirley Irene Uccello, his parents Salvatore & Cecelia Urgo-Uccello, his step-dad John Horan, his brother Joseph Uccello and sister Carol-Ann Horan- Chrzanowski. Salvator leaves his 2 loving sons and daughters-in law, Michael & Sue-Ann Uccello , Anthony & Lori Uccello and brother, Paul & Merna Uccello. In addition, Sal, (Grandpa) will forever be remembered by his 6 grand-children Michael, Julie, Vincenzo, Marc, Nick & Erika along with their spouses, 6 great-grand children and many nieces, nephews & friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends for viewing on Monday January 11th from 6-8 pm at Tillman Funeral Home, 2170 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Tuesday, January 12th at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 6090 Hypoluxo Road, Lake Worth.
