John A. Taylor, age 72, of West Palm Beach, Florida entered into eternal life on Sunday, May 1, 2016.
John was an area resident since 1972, having come from Bradenton, Florida. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer and a 1965 graduate of the Indiana College of Mortuary Science, Indianapolis, Indiana. He was employed at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home in Bradenton 1962-1972, E. Earl Smith & Son Funeral Homes in Lake Worth 1972-1985, and Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory in West Palm Beach from 1985 until his retirement in 2009. He was of the Methodist faith. He was an avid Florida Gators fan.
John was predeceased by his first wife, Pauline K. “Polly” Taylor in 2005. He will be lovingly remembered by his family, including his wife, Alice H. Taylor, father and mother-in-law, Jack and Mary Higgins, brothers-in-law, Brian Higgins (Mary Ann), Chris Higgins (Val), John Higgins (Laura), sisters-in-law, Maureen Urquhart (Frank), Elizabeth Laderoute, Frances Workman (Wayne), many nieces and nephews, children, T.J. Carter, Jr., Gay Carter Gianniotes (Paul), Joy Carter Moss (Skip), grandchildren, Kristen Carter DeFabrizio (Louis), Tim McCoy (Shannon), Todd McCoy (Eydie), nine great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren. John also leaves many devoted friends, colleagues, and families that he served during his long career.
The family will receive relatives and friends 6:00-9:00 PM Friday at Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2170 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Community of Hope Church, 14055 Okeechobee Blvd; Loxahatchee. Pastor Dale Locke will preside. The Rite of Committal will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, the Rev. Aidan M. Lacy celebrant. Memorial gifts may be sent to: MDS-foundation.org or Vitas Hospice in memory of John A. Taylor. We Thank God and Bless God for the gift of John’s life. He will be sorely missed.
