Phyllis Marie Sherman

Phyllis Marie (Ritz) Sherman passed away Wednesday April 26, 2017 at her daughters, Joyce, home in Loxahatchee, Fl. of complications from COPD. 

Phyllis was born March 15, 1921 to John and Vena Ritz in Madison, SD.  After graduating high school in 1939, she attended Secretarial school then worked for the South Dakota Motor Vehicle dept. in Pierre, SD.  Phyllis met Richard V. Sherman in Pierre, SD while he was in the Army Air Corp.  Phyllis and Richard were married October 3, 1943 in Madison, SD.  Phyllis and Richard Moved to Chamberlain, SD where Phyllis worked for the St Joseph Indian School in the office and Richard worked as the maintenance person.  After Richard died in 1969, Phyllis moved to Memphis, TN where she worked for the Sacred Heart Southern Missions, Walls, MS  in the office.  She retired in 1985 and moved to Camdenton, Mo.  After her health detiorated, she moved in 2012 to Miami, FL to live with her daughter Joyce.  

Phyllis is survived by two daughters: Geraldine Dusseault, Hot Springs, AR and Joyce Cummins, Loxahatchee, FL : one son, Richard Sherman, Fargo, ND:  three grandchildren, Deborah, Michael, and Evelyn: 2 great grandchildren, Cody, Brandon, and Daniel (step great grandchild).  Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, John and Vena; brother Lawrence Henry; sister Evelyn Jane and infant brother Willis; son Ray Eugene; husband Richard Vance Sherman.

There will be a family viewing from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Tillman Funeral Home, 2170 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL 33415.  Private Interment will be Monday, May 1, 2017 at Calvary Cemetery, 1663 Elvis Presley Blvd, Memphis, TN 38106.
