Robert Edwin (Bob) Rose, of West Palm Beach, FL died on May 25 after complications from a stroke. He was born on November 7, 1931 in Beverly, MA. He grew up in Salem, MA, and attended prep school at Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire. Mr. Rose proudly served our country by enlisting in the Navy as a young man and worked as a corpsman for the Navy and Marines during the Korean War. After leaving the service, Mr. Rose obtained his bachelor’s degree in microbiology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and worked for many years as a bacteriologist at Millipore Corporation in Bedford, MA. In 1974, he joined the Swedish-owned firm, I-Point, where he developed and marketed a product to detect food spoilage during shipping and handling. He later did similar work with an Argentina-based company and served as a microbiologist in Buenos Aires for several years, before retiring to West Palm Beach, FL. Mr. Rose is survived by his three children: Kristina, Karen, and Kurt; his grandchildren Samantha, Sean, Kamron, Olivia, and Julia; his brother Richard; his former wife Joan; his best friend Pete, and his faithful feline companion, Callie.
A service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, Florida 33467.in Lake Worth, FL.
