George N. Kook, Jr., late of Lantana Florida, passed away on February 17, 2018 after a brief illness. George was born in St. Augustine Fl. to George N. Kook, Sr. and Daisy Kook. George served in the Florida National Guard (31st Infantry) before moving with his parents to New Jersey. He worked with his father in a tailor shop on Warren Street in Trenton and briefly served with the NJ National Guard before joining the NJ Department of Transportation as an Engineer. George worked initially in the Design Squads in Independence Mall and then continued his career at the Ewing HQ.
George enjoyed helping people and served as a mentor to coworkers whenever he could. George was well known for his love of tennis, helping to set up tours to tennis events. He also enjoyed collecting military memorabilia. After 32 years of service with NJDOT, George retired in 1993. Although George moved back to Florida after his retirement to avoid the cold, he loved visiting friends and family in NJ often and cared deeply about his family. He leaves behind his wife, Barbara Kook, his sons, David Kook, Neal Kook, Steven Cook and Jeffrey Kook and Jeff's wife Heatherlynn Kook along with two granddaughters, Rhiannon Kook and Kira Kook.
A Memorial service will be held on March 10th at the Palm Breezes Community Club, at 3:00 pm, located at 3500 Lantana Road, Lake Worth, Fl. 33462. Dinner served following the service.
