Rivete A. Cooks

Rivete Alves Cooks, age 83 of Recife, Pernambuco – Brazil, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018.  She was born to the late Deodoro Monteiro Alves and Maria Madalena de Souza Alves on June 16, 1934.

Family and friends were Rivete’s passion and delight.  She enjoyed being with family and always made everyone that met her feel welcome.  She had a beautiful, warm and inviting smile.

Rivete (also known as Dona Rivete) was a homemaker and devoted mother living in Lantana, Florida.  Before her illness, Rivete was an energetic person.  She was not the type to be sitting around doing nothing.  She was a perfectionist and she loved decorating her house. She also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, painting, swimming and cooking masterful meals for her family.  An amazing person with many outstanding qualities that are too hard to put in to words.

In 1971, Rivete married the love of her life, Andrew T. Cooks.  They knew each other and were together for over 60 years. They resided many years in Brazil and later upon her husband’s retirement moved to Florida. She loved traveling back and forth to Brazil and US.  Spending time at their residences at the beach.

Rivete raised two daughters who she loved very much, Maria Teresa Cooks and Regina Rivete Hohenwarter, wife of Adam Hohenwarter. She loved spending time with her granddaughter, Gabriela Rivete Hohenwarter who will greatly miss their times together. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
