Norma “Jean” Gorney, age 87, of Greenacres Florida passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. She went home to the Lord 18 years and 1 day after being baptized at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. She did it “her way.” She was predeceased by her husband, Paul L. Gorney, sons, Gerald Fargo and Robert Lindenau, Jr. and brother, Robert Lindenau, Sr.
Jean, daughter of Vera Amelia Bentz and David William Lindenau, was born in Ludington, Michigan. Her love and legacy will live on through her family, children Judith Smith (James), Donna Savasta (Donald), Leroy Brenner (Marilyn), Ronald Gorney and Roxanne Brenner, 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
“Cards from GG.” She was a giver. No birthday, anniversary or special event went unrecognized and she passed down and instilled this in Donna and Judy.
Punishment as a child became a love in later years...reading. She could finish a book in a night. She loved growing and sharing her Christmas cactus and putting her finishing touches on special handmade Christmas ornaments.
Jean loved unconditionally. Everyone and anyone was welcome into her home and not without a cookie or two from the famous cookie jar and a height check on the wall.
Jean was an honest woman and when asked what she wanted people to know about her, she replied “Tell the truth.”
A heartfelt thank you to all Jean’s caregivers and Vitas who gave loving care and became family.
